Fresh fruit

Peak summer is eating a peach with my hands while I write to you. Today I’m offering fresh creative tips no one asked for. Don’t be discouraged by Instagram personalities who seamlessly juggle multiple artistic hobbies within a day. Put intention into your twenty-four hours and savour whatever you do with them.
(1.) Take a fucking break. Take regular breaks during work sessions every so often (say, 30 minutes). When the timer goes off, drop your work. No “let me just cross this one more thing” and suddenly a second timer goes off and you’re still on your laptop. Stretch, take a deep breath. At the end of the day, it’s just work. And you can’t even work on a burnt out mind.
(2.) On a similar note, rest properly. I bring no scientific evidence to support this, but I think what matters most is consistency. You train your body and mind to a certain cadency and you start thriving on it. If you’re a night owl who can’t go to sleep early, set an approximate time for bed and an approximate amount of sleep hours per night. Adjust these numbers to your lifestyle, so you’re not setting unreachable goals for yourself.
(3.) Scroll down memory lane, whether that’d be your gallery, a box of memorabilia or a notebook filled with ideas you gave up on. Immerse yourself in your own gatherings and references until you see something in a new light that is worth pursuing.
(4.) Cleanse and curate your physical space if you are to free your mental space. Endulge in small tasks, forge new organisational systems and let go of things (literally, metaphorically). Even the trivial act of moving things around makes me go about my day in a much more excited way.
